Jiang He, MD, DMS, PhD, MSc, FAHA, FACE
Dr. He is Professor and Joseph S. Copes, M.D. Chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He is also the Director of Tulane University Translational Science Institute in New Orleans, US.
Upon completion of medical school and medicine residency training, Dr. He pursued a Doctor of Medical Science degree in Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology at the Peking Union Medical College. Dr. He came to the U.S. and earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1996. In addition, he earned a M.S. degree in Human Genetics at the Tulane University School of Medicine in 2004.
Dr. He is a nationally and internationally well-known expert in the clinical, translational, and epidemiological research of cardiovascular and kidney diseases. He has conducted novel studies in obesity, hypertension, diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease funded by the National Institutes of Health. He has been the principal investigator and co-investigator for >30 major research awards from the National Institutes of Health with >150 million US dollars. Dr. He has authored >400 scientific articles which were published in first class biomedical journals, including N Engl J Med, JAMA, Lancet, and Nat Genetics. He has received many awards from local, national, and international academic institutions and professional societies. He has served at several committees of US National Academy of Medicine.
Besides honors that he has received in the US, he is an honorary professor at Peking Union Medical College, and China-Japan Friendship Hospital, a special professor at Soochow University, and a visiting professor at China National Human Genome Center at Beijing and Nanjing Medical University.
